The Philippine Embassy in New Zealand provides Notarial Services for documents to be used in the Philippines. Documents must be signed before a consular officer. The Philippine Embassy personnel do not draft legal documents such as power of attorney or deed. Applicants must prepare their own documents.

All legal documents may be notarized/ acknowledged/ consularized by clients/applicants personally appearing at the Philippine Embassy in Wellington or at its Honorary Consulates in Auckland and Christchurch, New Zealand. The relevant authentication/notarial forms may be found by checking the Download Forms here. PERSONAL APPEARANCE is required.

Notarization/ Acknowledgement/ Consularization of documents fee charged by the Embassy is NZ$43.75 starting 15 November 2022 (3-5 working days processing), payable in cash/eftpos to the Embassy of the Philippines. Please provide a photocopy of your valid passport and a prepaid signature courier bag for the return of the document.

In cases where personal appearance is not possible in view of valid circumstances, the following procedures should be followed:

  1. The legal document should be notarized by a New Zealand Notary Public.
  2. The duly notarized document should then be submitted for apostille to the Apostille Unit of the New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs (NZDIA) in Wellington and please follow this link for further information https://www.dia.govt.nz/Document-authentication.
  3. Once the document has been apostilled by NZDIA, it can be sent to the Philippines directly.

In cases where official documents issued by the New Zealand Governments (e.g. Birth Certificate, Police Clearance, etc.), the following procedures should be followed:

  1. The original document should be submitted for apostille to the Apostille Unit of the New Zealand Department of Internal Affairs (NZDIA) in Wellington and please follow this link for further information https://www.dia.govt.nz/Document-authentication.
  2. Once the document has been apostilled by NZDIA, it can be sent to the Philippines directly.

In cases where the legal document originates from Cook Islands and Niue, the following shall be applied:

  1. The subject document must first be notarized by a Cook Islands and Niue Notary Public.
  2. The document that has been duly notarized or affirmed shall be forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cook Islands and Niue to certify/apostille the notarized document.
  3. Once the document has been apostilled, it can be sent to the Philippines directly.
