Sentro Rizal
Sentro Rizal is a cultural and educational initiative established by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) of the Philippines. Named after the country’s national hero, José Rizal, the program aims to promote Philippine arts, culture, and language worldwide, particularly among overseas Filipino communities.
Sentro Rizal was recognized by virtue of Section 42 of Republic Act 10066 known as the National Cultural Heritage Act of 2009 which specifies a center “whose main purpose is the promotion of Philippine arts, culture and language throughout the world.” They are typically housed in Philippine embassies and consulates abroad. Through these centers, the Philippines strengthens its cultural diplomacy by fostering greater appreciation of Filipino identity, heritage, and creativity.
Beyond preserving culture, Sentro Rizal plays an important role in connecting Filipinos abroad with their roots while introducing global audiences to the Philippines’ diverse cultural landscape. It also provides opportunities for collaboration with local communities, educators, and cultural institutions, making it a dynamic platform for intercultural dialogue.
