Wellington - Ambassador Kira Christianne D. Azucena mitnessed today the signing of the Memorandum of Arrangement on Climate Change and Environment Cooperation between the Philippines and New Zealand by New Zealand Minister for Climate Change Hon. Simon Watts at the New Zealand Parliament.

The signing marka an important step in strengthening bilateral cooperation between the Philippines and New Zealand on climate change and environmental protection, building on the longstanding friendship and growing partnership between the two countries.

The Memorandum of Arrangement provides a framework for the Philippines and New Zealand to deepen cooperation and exchange knowledge, expertise and best practices in areas of mutual interest relating to climate change and the environment. It also encourages both sides to explore potential opportunities for future cooperation under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and in matters of mutual interest relating to nature markets, including their potential contribution to climate mitigation, adaptation, biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. --END
