/ news

Philippine Senator Paolo Benigno "Bam" Aquino IV and Mrs. Mary Fatima "Timi" Gomez-Aquino accompanied by Ambassador Virginia H. Benavidez and Minister and Consul General Arlene Gonzales-Macaisa visited Zelati in Tawa, Wellington to sample the gourmet gelato and sorbet offerings of the successful entrepreneurial Filipino family of Mr. Alberto and Rose Tuason on 03 July 2014. True to being a family-run business, Mr. and Mr. Tuason are ably assisted by their daughters Hillary, 18, Angela, 16, and Faith, 8, to cater to the store's customers. Mr. and Mrs. Tuason shared with Senator Bam Aquino, Mrs. Timi Aquino and Ambassador Benavidez how they started their business, how they acquired the machines and equipment and how they availed of the necessary training in Italy for their business venture.

Zelati's gelato is a healthier alternative to icecream because it is made using fresh, real and premium select ingredients. According to Mr. Tuason, Zelati gelato is approximately 70% organic, using pasteurized fresh New Zealand 'Organic' Milk and the Zelati sorbet is 'Dairy Free' while their fruit sorbet contains up to 34% real fruit. He further added that they carefully balance and batch-churn each flavor revealing an exquisite and luscious product. The family-run Zelati offers a variety of flavors ranging from chocolate, feijoa, passionfruit, honeycomb and limone.

Senator Aquino, Mrs. Aquino and Ambassador Benavidez were given a tour of the Zelati store including the "Freezeria" where the gelatos and sorbets are batch- churnedandstored.
