Ambassador Kira Christianne D. Azucena, during her official visit to Tonga for the presentation of credentials to His Majesty King Tupou VI at the Royal Palace, held a heartwarming Meet-and-Greet with the Filipino community on 18 June. The event brought together around 25 Filipinos, representing the vibrant diaspora from the estimated 130 Filipinos working in the island nation.

The attendees, many of whom are employed in retail industries, shared their working experiences in Tonga, highlighting both opportunities and challenges they face in their daily lives. Ambassador Azucena listened intently to their concerns and assured them that the Philippine Embassy in Wellington remains committed to working closely with the Government of Tonga to safeguard their rights and ensure their protection.

The event also served as an opportunity to reinforce the Embassy’s dedication to the Filipino community and foster a sense of unity and support among Filipinos in Tonga.
