The Philippine Embassy in Wellington is inviting all Filipinos in New Zealand, the Cook Islands, Fiji, Samoa and Tonga to watch the live-streaming of
“ Bayanihan ng Bayan: Anong Taya Mo Para Sa Bayan” events from January 24-28, 2012 over the website:www.ptv.ph. President Benigno S. Aquino III will participate in the activities, specifically in the Presidential Lunch and Caucus with Local Government Unit heads on 25 January 2012.
The “Bayanihan ng Bayan: Anong Taya Mo Para Sa Bayan” events were organized by the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) in partnership with the EDSA People Power Commission (EPPC) in response to the needs of fellow Filipinos in Northern Mindanao. Other government agencies that have pledged to take part in this endeavor are the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Education (DepEd), and the National Youth Commission (NYC).
Through the house build, clean-ups and other activities participated in by volunteers, the organizers aim to illustrate the various ways our fellow countrymen can help the victims of typhoon “Sendong.” Beginning with this initiative, the government wishes to gather commitments from all over the country and overseas to rebuild the devastated areas of Northern Mindanao.
The Philippine Embassy enjoins all Filipinos and friends in New Zealand, the Cook Islands, Fiji, Samoa and Tonga to heed this call and to coordinate with the Embassy in the event that they are able to come up with their own projects that would to help in the recovery efforts for the 117,665 families that have been severely affected in Northern Mindanao.
