The Philippine Embassy reported that the Mobile Consular Team conducted Overseas Absentee Voting Registration during the Embassy’s first consular mission for the year that was held in Christchurch, New Zealand on 12-14 January 2012. A total of 134 persons filed their applications for registration or certification while 2 requested for the transfer of their registration from other Posts. The registrants were delighted to be given the opportunity to exercise their right to suffrage even if they have been away from the Philippines and are now staying in New Zealand.
Philippine Ambassador Virginia H. Benavidez and the OAV Team of the Embassy have been intensifying the registration drive and have scheduled visits to the North and South Islands of New Zealand, local churches, companies and Filipino gatherings for this purpose.
